Manufacturing Plant Silo Roof Coating
NanoPrep used to prepare and coat silo roofs, providing long-term protection against corrosion.
The Problem
The metal roofs of several silos at a manufacturing site had corroded over time due to general wear and tear and water pooling. Taking blasting equipment up to the elevated work areas was not practical, so an alternative surface preparation and corrosion protection solution was required.
The Application
NanoPrep was selected to prepare the silo roof surfaces, providing a practical solution for the elevated work areas where conventional abrasive blasting equipment could not be used. After loose rust was removed, the surfaces were prepared using a needle gun and hand tools. Two coats of NanoPrep were spray-applied, followed by two coats of R230 to complete the protective system.
The Outcome
The NanoPrep system offered a practical solution for preparing the rusted steel surfaces where abrasive blasting was not feasible. Together, NanoPrep and R230 provided an effective protective finish across the silo roofs, helping to guard the metal against further corrosion.
